Printable Art Sets: How to Style 2, 3 or 4 Prints on a Wall

Set of four indigo botanical prints arranged as a gallery wall grid

A printable art set gives you two, three or four coordinated artworks designed to work together on one wall. It is a simpler alternative to building an eclectic gallery wall from unrelated pieces, because the palette, subject and proportions are already planned. Your main decisions are the layout, spacing, print size and frame style.

Why a matched set beats a mixed gallery wall

A traditional eclectic gallery wall (different frames, different subjects, different sizes) looks effortless when it's done well, but it takes a genuinely good eye and a lot of trial and error to avoid it looking cluttered. A set of 3 paintings or set of 4 paintings solves this by giving you pieces that already share a palette, subject, and proportions - your only job is spacing and alignment.

Choose a layout that fits your wall shape

For a wide, low wall (above a sofa or console), lay a set of 3 or 4 prints out in a single horizontal row with even gaps. For a tall, narrow wall (a stairwell or hallway), stack the same set vertically instead. Our Indigo Leaves set of four was actually designed as a coordinated grid, so it also works as a 2x2 block if you want a squarer footprint.

Spacing rules that keep it looking intentional

  • Leave 2-3 inches between frames in a set - closer reads as cluttered, wider reads as disconnected
  • Keep the center of the grouping at eye level, roughly 57-60 inches from the floor
  • Align either the tops or the centers of each frame - never leave both edges uneven
  • Measure and mark with painter's tape before you commit to nail holes

Let the room dictate the palette

A living room can support bolder, larger groupings than a bedroom or entryway. If you're working on a main living space, our Living Room Art collection is curated around larger sets and higher-contrast palettes. For a smaller or more restful room, look at sets of 2 instead - fewer panels are easier to balance in a tight space.

Don't overthink the frames

If your prints already share a consistent border or mat, as ours do, matching frames simply makes the grouping read as one piece rather than several. Save the mixed-frame, mismatched-size approach for a true eclectic gallery wall project - it's a different technique with a different set of rules.

Choose the right print size before you frame the set

Before ordering frames, check the aspect ratio and maximum recommended print size on each product page. Use our printable wall art size guide to match the artwork to common frame proportions, then see the digital wall art printing guide for paper and printing advice.
